8.3.1 Immigrants & Refugees in Kamloops

Kamloops Immigrant Services is a non-profit organization located in Kamloops, BC that, “helps and supports immigrants, refugees, migrant workers, visible minorities, first-generation Canadians, and their families” (Kamloops Immigrant Services, n.d.b) as they are settling into their new life in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District.

On their website, Kamloops Immigrant Services has a page dedicated to health services in Kamloops so you can find out which ones you can access (Kamloops Immigrant Services, n.d.a). They provide interpretation and translation services as needed (Kamloops Immigrant Services, n.d.c).

8.3.2 Translators and Interpreters

Spoken Language Interpreters help bridge the communication gap between you and your healthcare team (Interior Health, n.d.d). They can provide an easier way to reach out to the community so you can be fully informed about your health and ask any questions. Interior Health in BC provides this service.

Ask your healthcare team if you would like an interpreter during your care.
